Alright, so I’m going to be talking about my recent vinyl purchases from now on since I’ve got nothing better to do.
First Album: The Books - Thought for Food
For those who have never listened to The Books, Thought for Food is the perfect place to start. Released in 2002, Thought for Food is their debut album, and my personal favorite. The Books are infamous for being “unclassifiable”, and I agree. I can honestly say there’s nothing in my record collection that sounds like them. The mix of acoustic/folk instrumentation, minimal electronics, and sampling works surprisingly well. At only 38 minutes, Thought for Food flies by, holding my attention from beginning to end.
(Their sophomore album, The Lemon of Pink, is really good too.)
